Year of success for Transicon as it eyes up new market opportunities

A pioneering Shropshire firm which specialises in cutting-edge automated control systems is celebrating a hugely successful year and is looking forward to further growth in 2025.

Telford-based Transicon works with major manufacturers and producers across the country and across a variety of industries including household names such as Muller Dairy, BMW and Tata Steel.

It says the official launch of its new mechatronics division in 2024 and the ongoing development of its service and maintenance offer has contributed to sustained growth over the last 12 months taking its turnover to over £6million.

General manager Jennifer Hughes said continued demand for its products and services and a focus on developing new markets mean opportunities for further growth over the next 12 months.

She said: “The official launch of our new mechatronics division was a significant step forward for the business helping us to meet increased demand for our integrated solutions which marry mechanical engineering applications with automated control systems.

“There is a huge market for innovative solutions which develop the latest mechatronic technology into effective and efficient solutions for industry, and this new division opens opportunities for us in a range of sectors from automotive manufacturing to food and drink processing and that is really exciting for us.

“We have already worked with Bosch Rexroth to refashion the handling and stacking process at a renowned UK steel manufacturer.

“Together, we developed a state-of-the-art stacker, powered by our Delta robots, to significantly enhance the safety and efficiency in the production of cut-to-length steel profile.

“The partnership was a perfect example of the way our mechatronics division can create bespoke, innovative solutions which specifically address the customer’s needs and we’ve got several other projects in the pipeline for 2025 already.”

Transicon, which was set up in 1967 and is based at Queensway Business Park, has built a formidable reputation for its work manufacturing bespoke automation and control systems incorporating AC Drives, DC Drives, Servo Drives, PLC and SCADA Systems.

Jennifer added that 2025 would see a continued focus on skills and workforce development, including recruitment into the company’s active apprenticeship scheme.

“We’re looking to build the next generation of engineers so we will be actively looking to further develop our apprenticeship programme as well as work with more schools across the borough to champion the importance of STEM skills.”
