Transicon shortlisted for prestigious Made in the Midlands Manufacturing Innovation Award

Telford-based automation specialists Transicon has been shortlisted in the prestigious Made in the Midlands Awards for its manufacturing innovation.

The family-run company, which has built a formidable reputation for excellence in designing and manufacturing bespoke automation and control systems, has been recognised in the Manufacturing Innovation category for two groundbreaking initiatives launched in the past 12 months.

Its cutting-edge mechatronics division, which marries mechanical engineering applications with automated control systems, and its unique low-risk, phased approach to upgrading outdated GEM 80 controllers have both been recognised by judges in the shortlisting stage.

Jennifer Hughes, general manager at Transicon, said: "We're delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award. It's a testament to our team's dedication to innovation and excellence in everything we do.

Our mechatronics division and GEM 80 upgrade path showcase our commitment to solving real industry problems while minimising risk and downtime for our customers."

Winners of the West Midlands round will be announced at a black tie event on April 9 at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham. Winners will automatically become finalists in the national Made in the UK Awards taking place in June 2025.

Established in 1967, Transicon employs 45 people at its Telford base and counts major brands including Muller, BMW and Tata Steel Industrial among its global client base.

The company specialises in cutting-edge automated control systems, incorporating AC Drives, DC Drives, Servo Drives, PLC and SCADA Systems.

The Made in the Midlands Awards celebrate manufacturing excellence across the region.
